Dr. Attique Tahir
Mr. Atique Tahir has done his Doctorate Degree in Human Rights with a comparative study of Shariah. He has a rich experience of teaching and research along with legal practice and consultancy of more than 30 years. He has court experience in civil and criminal Laws and is currently involved in Arbitration, corporate, Service matters, Family Laws, pre-trial work, and drafting legal opinions. His research areas of interest are Human rights, Legal Philosophy, Family Laws and ethics. He has more than 30 research papers to his credit.
Mr Ayaz Gondal specialises in criminal defence, regulatory offences and professional disciplinary law since 2008. He has been involved in several high profile and complex criminal matters and a substantial portion of his practice is in trials in the District/High Court.
Mr. Ali has experience of running an estate agency in UK. He has vast experience in managing, buying, selling residential and commercial properties and arranging mortgages and insurances for the same.
Col (R) Basharat Akbar Khan
Col. Basharat has worked nationally and internationally with construction companies on significant construction projects. He has worked both for the constructors and the Employers as well as the Engineer on different assignments. For brief periods he worked with Conforce Ltd, a then leading Civil Engineering and Contracting Company, and The Capital Development Authority, Islamabad. He had a prosperous career in the Army.
He also worked in the UAE multi national construction company as a Project Manager. As the Managements Representative he successfully obtained the ISO 9001 Certification for his Company. Besides diverse experience in construction and construction management he also qualified in Health, Safety and Environment. Upon return to Pakistan he was appointed as the first Managing Director of Frontier Highways Authority. He obtained complete administrative and financial autonomy for the FHA .He also served in a leading Consulting Company as their Team Leader on an Asian Development Bank funded Urban Development Project. Mr. Basharat has also worked with an Italian Road Construction Company as their Chief Technical Manager where he was responsible for Contract Administration on a FIDIC based contract. He has had experience of appearing before Dispute Adjudication Boards.
He is presently advising constructors on project management and counseling the largest power project contractor in Pakistan. Mr. Khan has acted as Chief Manager Technical and Contracts for foreign construction firm, as Deputy Team Leader on an Asian Development Bank funded project, Managing Director in Project for the Sindh Government, Project Manager, Project Engineer Resident Engineer for Foreign companies, on a variety of construction projects. Mr Basharat has assisted the firm with various construction disputes.
Mr Faisal Iftikhar practices civil litigation and has helped litigate several matters for clients involving property disputes and contract breaches.
Mr. Fayyaz Qureshi having an excellent academic record and diverse experience resumed full time work with Samdani and Qureshi in 2000, having joined the firm in 1989 initially in a Paralegal capacity before completing the LL.B. at the International Islamic University, Islamabad, Pakistan in 1999. His particular expertise is in financial transactions, international commercial arbitrations and Energy Laws. He possesses the ability to identify and solve areas of potential commercial conflict. His field of research is development and evolution of financial investment products to cater for the potentially large investor base that remains untapped due to ethical investment considerations.
He had been a research fellow at (CEPMLP) University of Dundee, UK, in relation to the establishment of an Islamic Research Centre and has developed a Post Graduate course of study pertaining to commercial and economic issues relevant to international trade concerning the natural resources industry and the settlement of disputes. He has drafted and vetted contracts relating to the commercial sector in banking, construction, engineering, infrastructure, project finance, energy, broadcasting and Information Technology. He also assisted in the re-drafting and amendment of Exploration and Production rules (on-shore and off-shore), Model Petroleum Concession Agreement and Joint Venture Agreements.
Mr. Gia G. J ilani, a British and Turkish national is a civil engineer by profession. He is a highly qualified engineer and professional. His particular expertise and field of interest is in project, construction and claims management, contract administration and International Arbitrations. He has been working in the field of engineering design, construction management, construction supervision and contract administration for the last 43 years.
Mr. Jilani has administrated several international projects as Resident Engineer and Senior Resident Engineer on behalf of International Consultants and as Member of the Executive Boards of International Joint Ventures and Consortiums of Contractors. He also has extensive experience of contract administration and drafting claims under FIDIC Conditions of Contract and has been involved in several International Arbitrations (ICC & ICSID). He has worked as Deputy General Manager in Bayindir Construction Inc. (TR) as Senior Resident Engineer in Freeman Fox & Partners (UK), as Project Manager (Kuwait) in Copri Construction Inc. (Kuwait), as Senior Engineer in Amber Valley District Council, Derbyshire, England as Chief Assistant Engineer in Heanor Urban District Council, Derbyshire, England.
Halaj Asghar Malik
Mr Halaj Asghar Malik, joined Samdani & Qureshi in 2005 and works on both, criminal and civil cases.
Mr. Khan is a qualified Chartered Accountant from the Institute of Chartered Accountants of England & Wales. He is a highly experienced Chartered Accountant in Pakistan and UK and has a rich experience of more than 45 years in auditing, advisory, financial services, capital market, transfer pricing and audit and project consultancy.
Mr. Khan has a diversified work experience as consultant, advisor, organizer, and financial director. He has introduced modern accounting systems for various organizations in Pakistan and UK which required complex analysis of weaknesses in the previous system and their eradication. Safdar Abbas Khan
Safdar Abbass Khan has been practicing law at the Lahore High Court, in constitutional, civil and corporate jurisdiction. Mr. Niaz has previously worked with the U.K. and Philippines Office of Frontier Bold: Law and Advisory, in lieu of the Asian Development Bank (ADB), where the tasks assigned to him were related to the Banking, Commercial and Corporate Law of the U.K. alongside the legal margins of Infrastructure and Financial Development in South East Asia. While working at Fragomen, he has evaluated and worked upon immigration permits, regulations and permits issued in different countries under the scope of International Immigration and Commercial Law in South East Asia. Moreover, at the National Union of Peoples’ Lawyers, Mr. Nausherwan was engaged alongside lawyers from the European Commission’s Legal Service over projects based on the Socio-Economic Rights and Cultural and Political Rights’ violations in the Asia-Pacific region.
Sundus Malik recently graduated from University Of London with an LLB (Hons) Degree and joined Samdani & Qureshi in 2016.
At Samdani & Qureshi, she works in the corporate department including; research, legal audits, property matters, rendering opinions, drafting and vetting of agreements and working on due diligence projects.She is also primarily involved in assisting the Partner in litigation matters including research work, drafting and is also responsible for monitoring and reporting on the progress of matters pending before various courts/forums to the firm’s clients.
